The organizing committee of the WorkShift 2026 Summit has announced the appointment of Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technological Skills Development, as the Honorary President of the Summit. This appointment reflects the event’s strategic focus on advancing digital skills development and enhancing the readiness of Egyptian talent for the evolving global labor market.
The committee also confirmed the participation of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) as a strategic partner of the Summit, reinforcing its position as a high-level national platform supporting Egypt’s efforts to build a knowledge-based and innovation-driven digital economy.
The Summit is scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, and will serve as the first executive summit of its kind in Egypt dedicated to freelancing, remote work, online employment, and emerging work models.
The event is supported by @Job (formerly El-Hareefa) and will bring together more than 200 CEOs, business leaders, policymakers, and industry experts.
Honorary Presidency of Dr. Hoda Baraka
The appointment of Dr. Hoda Baraka recognizes her pivotal role in advancing Egypt’s technological skills agenda and her contributions to launching and implementing several national initiatives aimed at preparing a globally competitive workforce.
The committee emphasized that this step aligns with the Summit’s mission to empower youth and create sustainable employment opportunities through digital transformation.
Statement by Dr. Hoda Baraka
Dr. Hoda Baraka stated:
“WorkShift 2026 represents an important platform for supporting the transformation of work models and maximizing the utilization of Egyptian talent within the digital economy.
National initiatives, particularly Digital Egypt Generations, aim to prepare a globally competitive workforce. Events such as this play a complementary role by connecting skills development with labor market opportunities and transforming learning into tangible drivers of economic growth.”
Supporting the Digital Egypt Generations Initiative
The Summit will place special emphasis on supporting national initiatives, particularly the Digital Egypt Generations (DEG) program launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology as part of the “Building the Egyptian Citizen” pillar within Egypt’s digital transformation strategy.
The program aims to prepare a new generation of technology professionals by empowering learners from different age groups—from school students to university graduates—enabling them to compete locally, regionally, and globally.
Within this framework, WorkShift 2026 acts as a complementary execution platform, transforming training and upskilling outcomes into real employment opportunities, especially in freelancing and remote work.
Empowering Youth and Strengthening the Digital Economy
The Summit aims to create sustainable income streams for Egyptian youth while increasing digital exports through global deployment of Egyptian talent.
It also seeks to connect qualified professionals with the needs of local and international companies through modern employment platforms, improving labor market efficiency and accelerating Egypt’s transition toward a digital economy.
Statement by the Organizing Committee
Nermeen El-Nemr, Founder of WorkShift Summit, CEO of ManTech for Management, Training and Technology Solutions, and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, stated:
“Through WorkShift 2026, we aim to move beyond discussions about the future of work into real implementation by creating an integrated ecosystem that connects training, employment, and technology, while providing Egyptian youth with genuine opportunities to access global labor markets.”
She added that the Summit serves as a practical platform for translating the outcomes of initiatives such as Digital Egypt Generations into direct employment opportunities through remote work and freelancing, contributing to national income growth and strengthening Egypt’s digital services exports.
A Platform for the Future of Work
The organizing committee emphasized that WorkShift 2026 is designed as an execution-oriented platform focused on delivering actionable outcomes and strategic partnerships that support the national economy and enhance Egypt’s readiness for the future of work.
This comes amid rapid global growth in the digital economy, creating significant opportunities for countries with skilled human capital to compete internationally.
The Summit is expected to contribute to expanding employment opportunities, maximizing human capital utilization, and strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for digital work and cross-border services.
