Jumia Egypt Announces Lionel Mobi as Chief Executive Officer

 Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, has announced the appointment of Lionel Mobi as Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Egypt. The move is aimed at accelerating growth and strengthening the company’s position in Egypt’s rapidly expanding e-commerce market.

Over a Decade of Leadership Experience Across Jumia Africa

Lionel Mobi brings more than ten years of experience within the Jumia Group, having held multiple senior leadership roles across key African markets, including Cameroon, Ghana, and Senegal.

Most recently, he served as CEO B2C of Jumia Egypt since December 2024, where he led strategic initiatives focused on expanding product availability and improving the online shopping experience in Egypt nationwide.

Prior to that, he was CEO of Jumia Senegal, where he successfully led a phase of operational strengthening and business growth.

Strengthening Jumia Egypt’s E-Commerce Growth Strategy

In his new role, Lionel Mobi will oversee Jumia Egypt’s operations with a strategic focus on:

  • Accelerating e-commerce growth in Egypt
  • Enhancing customer experience on the platform
  • Expanding nationwide access to digital commerce services
  • Strengthening logistics and delivery capabilities
  • Supporting digital payments infrastructure

This appointment aligns with Jumia’s broader strategy to reinforce its leadership in African e-commerce markets, with Egypt playing a central role.

Lionel Mobi: Bringing E-Commerce Closer to Customers in Egypt

Commenting on his appointment, Lionel Mobi said:
“We are entering an exciting new phase for Jumia in Egypt. Our focus remains on bringing e-commerce closer to customers across the country by improving accessibility, strengthening logistics capabilities, and delivering a seamless and reliable shopping experience.”

He added that Egypt remains a key strategic market for Jumia in Africa, and the company is committed to building on its strong foundation to further expand its digital commerce ecosystem.

Jumia also expressed its appreciation to Abdellatif Olama for his leadership and contributions during his tenure, which played a key role in strengthening the company’s presence in Egypt’s e-commerce sector.
