The success of the ITIDA–500 Global partnership is grounded in clearly defined performance

Success Stories of Egyptian Tech Startups

Over the past three years, 197 Egyptian startups participated in nine cohorts of 500 Global Egypt’s

Seed Bootcamp and Scale Up programs, involving over 380 founders. Collectively, these startups

attracted $6 million in direct investment during the programs and raised over $54 million in follow-on

funding The partnership also produced two successful exits, $1.3 million in grants and awards, and

created more than 1,300 full-time jobs Highlighted startups include Rahet Bally, ILLA, Dayra, Amanleek

El Gameya, Blnk, Settle, and Bluworks, while other ventures successfully expanded regionally and

internationally, such as Khazenly, Nowlun, and Enza. Additional discussions showcased founders

BAM: Strengthening Accelerator Capabilities Nationwide

The Bootcamp for Accelerator Managers (BAM) has been a key driver of ecosystem development

More than 125 accelerator managers and senior team members from over 55 accelerators participated

demonstrating the program’s wide-reaching impact. Follow-up assessments indicated that

63% of participants advanced into higher-impact leadership roles

56% reported clearer and more competitive accelerator strategies

51% improved the quality of programs delivered to startups

40% achieved measurable gains in key performance indicators

ITIDA Expands Tech Job Drive to Egypt’s Tier-2 Cities with Beni Suef Employment Fair

 The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is extending Egypt’s mature IT and offshoring industry beyond Cairo, staging its 18th employment fair at the Digital Egypt Innovation Hub (CREATIVA) in Beni Suef’s technology park.

The initiative reflects ITIDA’s strategy to bring job opportunities closer to youth in tier-2 cities, connect skilled talent with leading employers, and reinforce Egypt’s position as a global hub for IT and business services.

The fair brought together 11 local and international companies, offering more than 650 job opportunities across IT services, business process outsourcing (BPO), and contact centers.

 

Employers included VOIS, Aura Communication, VXI, Swift Act, and Business Spike Agency, alongside other firms such as Mashroak, Modern Technology, and Arkan for Economic Investments. Industry bodies like the Digital Economy and Technology General Division (DETGD) and the international student organization AIESEC also joined the event, highlighting its collaborative nature.

 

Engineer Mahmoud Sofrata, ITIDA’s Vice President for ICT Markets Development, toured the company booths and met with job seekers.

 

 

In a dialogue session with youth, he emphasized that developing skills is the foundation of career success, pointing to three pillars: mastering artificial intelligence as the language of the digital era, strengthening language proficiency to compete globally, and cultivating soft skills such as teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication.

“We saw the ambition, energy, and creativity of Egyptian youth on full display,” Sofrata said, stressing that talent development is a continuous journey enabling the next generation to thrive in both local and global labor markets.

The fair drew significant turnout, with more than 2,000 registrations and over 700 participants attending in person. To facilitate access, ITIDA partnered with Silicon Waha, the company managing Egypt’s technology parks across tier 2 cities, to provide free transportation from central Beni Suef to the Digital Egypt Innovation Hub.

Alongside recruitment, the event featured workshops and career counseling sessions designed to align young professionals with labor market requirements. Sessions explored interview preparation, the role of AI and automation in CX services, and the importance of interpersonal skills in employability.

 

Other discussions focused on technology’s role in shaping future industries, building careers in contact centers, and introductory guidance on freelancing.

By moving its employment fairs to tier-2 cities, ITIDA is widening the geographic reach of Egypt’s digital economy, ensuring opportunities are not confined to Cairo, and channeling the country’s abundant human capital toward a globally competitive industry.

Start IT targets aspiring entrepreneurs with ICT-driven ideas, solutions, or prototypes and helps them build scalable, investment-ready startups. The latest cohort intake reflects ITIDA’s continued commitment to nurturing a vibrant and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Alumni Networking and Community Building
The kickoff event featured a networking session bringing together the new cohort and alumni from previous Start IT rounds. The gathering aimed to foster peer learning, knowledge exchange, and cross-collaboration opportunities, reinforcing the program’s growing community of tech entrepreneurs under a unified platform.

• Converse2Note leverages AI to convert doctor-patient consultations into structured and coded medical reports.

Launch of Start IT Perks Platform
In a key announcement during the event, ITIDA launched Start IT Perks, an exclusive benefits platform for incubated startups. The platform provides discounted access to premium digital tools and services through partnerships with leading local enablers including Talents Arena, Sprints, The WhiteGuard, Qayedeny, Camion, Techie Matter, DevisionX, and Zurqa. The goal is to enhance startup efficiency, reduce operational costs, and support accelerated scaling.

Expanded Support and Cloud Credit Boost
As part of the program’s continuous enhancement, ITIDA recently announced an expanded incubation package that increases total support per startup to EGP 480,000, up from EGP 180,000. The increase covers both financial grants and in-kind services to strengthen the startups’ ability to progress through key development milestones.

In addition, support from Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been raised to $10,000 in cloud credits per startup, doubling the previous amount. This upgrade reflects TIEC’s strategic focus on equipping startups with cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and services.

Talent, AI, and Technical Enablement
To support human capital development within startups, the program also includes dedicated hiring support via partnerships with Talents Arena, Sprints, and Techie Matter, making it easier for founders to access top-tier tech talent and form capable teams.

 


Another new component is specialized AI enablement, which offers targeted training programs and expert-led advisory sessions to empower startups working on advanced digital and AI solutions.

Launched in 2013 by ITIDA through TIEC, Start IT is one of Egypt’s longest-standing and most comprehensive tech incubation programs. It targets early-stage entrepreneurs and startups with ICT-based ideas or prototypes and provides a one-year full incubation journey. The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has successfully concluded its 14th edition of its IT Employment Fair (IEF), held online in October. The event connected qualified students and graduates with top local and multinational companies, providing career opportunities across the IT sector and fostering greater career awareness among Egyptian youth.
The fair featured 35 leading employers, including 20 global firms and 15 local companies, collectively offering more than 700 job opportunities in software development, embedded systems, and other IT fields. Over 13,000 job seekers registered, making it Egypt’s largest-ever IT employment fair with 8,189 attendees actively engaging during the event.
ITIDA has a strategic focus on transforming Egypt into a global outsourcing and technology innovation hub, with initiatives aimed at growing the industry, cultivating tech talents and digital skills, and reinforcing Egypt’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Engineer Ahmed ElZaher, CEO of ITIDA, underlined the fair’s role in accelerating the growth of Egypt’s IT sector. Egypt is committed to nurturing a pool of local digital talent capable of driving innovation and economic development. Through specialized training programs, we aim to prepare our youth for roles in digital transformation, the offshoring industry, and beyond,” he said.
ITIDA’s efforts to attract global players to Egypt are yielding remarkable results, as the country’s outsourcing exports alone grew from $2.4 billion to $3.7 billion in the past year. The country’s strategic location, robust infrastructure, and government support further enhance its appeal to IT Offshoring businesses.
The event underscored the rising demand for skilled IT professionals in Egypt, as data revealed a significant need for various technology roles. Leading the list of in-demand jobs is the ‘Full Stack Developer,’ representing nearly 12% of the total job openings. This is followed by ‘Design Engineer’ roles, which account for 8.55%. ‘CRM Engineer’ and ‘Mobile Applications Developer’ positions also featured prominently, each comprising 6.13% of the total demand.
Additionally, ‘Back-End Developer’ roles made up 5.27%, while ‘Software Testing Engineer’ and ‘Data Scientist’ positions represented 4.4% and 4.13%, respectively. These figures highlight the increasing need for advanced technical expertise to drive the growth of Egypt’s IT sector.
To further equip job seekers, ITIDA organized a series of workshops that provided valuable insights into resume writing, interview techniques, and career development strategies. By empowering Egyptian youth and bridging the gap between academia and industry, ITIDA’s employment fair plays a crucial role in driving Egypt’s digital transformation and positioning the country as a global tech hub.

ICT Minister Witnesses the Launch of Invest IT Program in Collaboration with ITIDA and Flat6Labs to Support Tech Startups

Cairo- 4 November 2024:
Dr. Amr Talaat, ICT Minister , witnessed the launch of the Invest IT program, aimed at supporting tech startups. The program, introduced by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), which is part of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), comes in collaboration with Flat6Labs, a leading provider of early-stage venture capital in the Middle East and North Africa.
The program aims to empower Egyptian ICT and ICT-enabled startups at the seed funding stage or in pre-Series A across various governorates in Egypt. Invest IT program is designed to drive innovation, support startups, and contribute to Egypt’s economic growth.
The program is executed in two phases. The first phase focuses on preparing the participating startups for investment by providing a comprehensive set of training sessions, workshops, and advisory meetings tailored to each company, along with the essential tools and resources needed. The second phase of the program involves networking between the participating startups and a number of investors.
Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stated: “The Egyptian government is unwavering in its commitment to fostering a vibrant tech startup ecosystem. We are actively implementing a range of initiatives and programs that aim at upskilling entrepreneurs, attracting global incubators and accelerators, matchmaking startups with investors, and establishing Digital Egypt innovation hubs nationwide to empower entrepreneurs to turn their innovations into successful commercial ventures. We are actively working to simplify the establishment procedures and post-establishment processes, alongside investing in digital infrastructure. Egypt is among the top three countries in the Middle East and Africa for attracting investments in startup technology companies.”

The contracts for implementing the program were signed by Engineer Ahmed ElZaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and Mr. Hany El Sonbaty, Founder and Chairman of Flat6Labs, in the presence of Mr. Ahmed El-Alfi, Founder of Flat6Labs, and Ms. Dina El-Shenoufy, Chief Investment officer at Flat6Labs, along with several leaders from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), and Flat6Labs.
The program is set to support 12 startups over a duration of 6 to 8 months. During this time, the program administrators will provide consultation and coaching services to each of the 12 selected startups, addressing elements related to their investment readiness. The program will also support these startups in setting up their data rooms, containing all relevant investment-related documents. A key focus will be on connecting the startups with potential investors, international and local, and supporting them in closing investment deals.
To be eligible, startups must be at the seed funding stage or in pre-Series A rounds and have a scalable product or service. Furthermore, applicants must have been registered for at least two years prior to the program’s start date, and the founding team should consist of two or more members.

ITIDA and NTI Conclude 2024 Summer Internship Program,

Empowering Over 1,700 ICT Students with In-Demand Tech Skills in AI,

Cybersecurity, and Software Development

Cairo – Egypt, 17 October 2024: The Information Technology Industry Development Agency

(ITIDA) announced that it has successfully concluded its annual Summer Internship Program,

training over 1700 ICT students from various Egyptian governorates on the latest technological trends.

The program is conducted in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI).
ITIDA’s Summer Internship Program, launched in 2014, is one of its key human capacity development initiatives.

It provides free, hands-on training on the latest technological trends to computer science and engineering students.

This year, Students in Engineering and IT faculties have received training on the latest technological trends,

precisely in the fields of 5G Technologies (22 trainees), Artificial Intelligence (282 trainees),

Amazon Web Services Cloud (91 trainees), Big Data Analysis (59 trainees),

and Cisco CCNA (324 trainees).


The training tracks also covered Cyber Ops Associate (232 trainees),

Data Analysis skills for freelancers (100 trainees), Digital Design using FPGA (103 trainees),

Graphic Design (55 trainees), and Internet of things Applications (IoT) (95 trainees). Additionally

, the program MEAN-Stack Web Development (63 trainees), Red Hat systems Administration (98 trainees),

and Web Design (190 trainees).

Engineer Ahmed ElZaher, CEO of ITIDA, noted:

“It is essential to prepare university students across Egypt to enhance their digital capabilities and empower them

to become skilled professionals. We’re dedicated to equipping Egypt’s future tech talents with the latest skills.

ElZaher highlighted the close collaboration between ITIDA and NTI,

commending the institute’s extensive experience in executing and managing training programs that aim to enhance digital skills in various IT fields.

The 2024 Summer Internship Program has trained more 1700 talented and motivated students,

across the country, with 615 trainees from the Northern governorates and the Nile Delta,

528 from Greater Cairo region, 484 from Upper Egypt, and 87 from the Canal governorates.

Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Director of NTI,

stated that training Egyptian university students on the latest technological trends before graduation is a priority for the Institute.

This program provides students with the opportunity to engage closely with technology and acquire practical skills that align with the demands of the local, regional, and international job markets, thereby opening opportunities for

Egyptian talent to access new markets.

Khattab added: “This summer, trainees in the program received scientific training,

in addition to free practical courses by renowned international companies’ academies,

such as Cisco Academy, Amazon Academy, Huawei Academy, Red Hat Academy,

and others affiliated with the Institute.

Additionally, students were trained in freelancing skills and personal development alongside technical tracks,

equipping them for job opportunities before graduation and meeting the needs of both local

and global job markets.”
