Attendance at the Grand Egyptian Museum Official Opening
From October 31 to November 4, Dr. Kunimitsu Ayako, Japanese State Minister for
Foreign Affairs, visited Egypt as a Special Envoy of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi
On November 1, she attended the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian
Museum (GEM) Japan has continuously supported the museum to preserve Egypt’s
historical and cultural heritage, promote tourism, and create employment opportunities
At the ceremony, H.E. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi expressed gratitude for Japan’s support
State Minister Kunimitsu also exchanged greetings with VIPs, including H.E. President Mahmoud
Abbas of Palestine On November 2, she inspected the GEM and met with Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim
CEO of the museum, affirming GEM’s role as a symbol of cooperation and friendship between
Japan and Egypt

Visit to Dar Al-Shifa Hospital
On November 2, State Minister Kunimitsu visited Dar Al-Shifa Hospital in Cairo, accompanied
by Dr. Nima, WHO Representative in Egypt Drawing on her medical background, she actively
engaged with hospital officials and confirmed that Japanese expertise, including the 5S methodology
(Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
and medical equipment, is enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the region
Engagement with Japanese Company Representatives in Egypt
Also on November 2, she met with representatives of Japanese companies operating in Egypt
She reviewed the current trends and characteristics of the Egyptian market, discussed challenges
faced by businesses, and explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral economic relations and
investment between Japan and Egypt
